Overview

Kindred Curiosity is seeking a talented Graphic Designer to support its mission of building a community for women of the Asian Diaspora in the Bay Area. In this role, the Graphic Designer will be crucial in transforming the organization’s vision into compelling visual content across various platforms. The designer’s work will help promote Kindred Curiosity’s events and programs, and amplify the stories and voices of women from the Asian Diaspora. This role involves close collaboration with our existing graphic designer and our marketing team to drive engagement, spread awareness, and build a strong brand identity.

  • Estimated time commitment: Ranging from 15-20 hours per month

  • Volunteer term will go until December 2025

  • Location: SF Bay Area or Remote

Note: While we are seeking a candidate with the qualifications listed below, we are open to considering junior graphic designers who may not meet all the specified qualifications but demonstrate strong potential and enthusiasm for our mission. Key Responsibilities 

 

Brand & Design 

  • Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity

  • Develop visually captivating graphics for digital and print media, including social media posts, event flyers, newsletters, and website content.

  • Maintain and enhance our visual identity across all materials, ensuring consistency and impact in every design.

  • Use trend intelligence and knowledge of historical and current markets when designing and executing specific classifications

 

Collaboration

  • Close collaboration with our existing graphic designer and our marketing team to drive engagement, spread awareness, and build a strong brand identity

  • Provide creative input and innovative ideas to enhance our visual storytelling and audience engagement.

  • Incorporate feedback from team members and stakeholders to refine designs, ensuring they meet project deadline

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience (academic and/or professional) with Figma and other design tools (i.e. Canva)

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and articulate design concepts

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines

 

Nice to haves 

  • Passionate about growing a community for women of Asian Diaspora

  • Curious about Asian Diaspora experiences 

  • 1-2 years of experience in professional graphic design, preferably with a creative or marketing agency

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)

  • Experienced with project management tools (ie ClickUp, Asana)
